Bday Blog!

Precisely at 3.52 pm today, I turned 24. Another year searching for meaning and purpose flew by, and I do not want to reiterate those thoughts which I have already articulated in the annual year ending blog. Sadly, I do not think I am any wiser than I was last year, although that is definitely not something that I would have said a year ago. Bit of a regression, really. Another trouble with having a birthday early in the year – not much happens from the year ending to allow one time for some extra reflections. Most of those thoughts still hold. With each passing year, a feeling of quo vadis becomes more prominent, and the passage of time can hardly be masqueraded as trivial. I sometimes think it was time I got serious, wiser (in real, not nominal terms :D), and for my own sake, less caustic in life.

And then I laugh at myself. Not because it is impossible, neither because I don’t want to, but because I wonder how I will be able to convince people around me of the same. And so we all play along. Inertia, even at an existential level, has always been an important facet of life, from much before Newton gave it the name.

I have never been much of a fan of the idea of being born of Valentine’s anyway. You see, girls can easily get away with wishing only happy birthday to you, and with the same smile too!! :P

Sad existential dichotomies apart, I am still thinking of a wish to make. In the meantime, happy birthday to me!
